Alison Filipski, LPCC
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC15345). I graduated with Master’s Degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from the University of San Diego. In my work throughout San Diego County, I have provided mental health services to diverse populations including individual, family, and group therapy to children, teens, adults, and families in a variety of locations including in-home and school-based settings.

Clinical Experience

I specialize in working with youth (13-17 years old) and have counseled at-risk youth, adolescents, and adults in addition to clients experiencing anxiety, divorce/separation, depression, trauma, OCD, ADHD, Autism, suicidal ideation/self-harm, anger management, bullying, self-esteem, stress management, and adjustment issues. In the current environment of social media saturation and the pandemic, the development of a core sense of self, identity and confidence in adolescents has been greatly impacted. These times are so confusing and make it even more critical to provide youth with positive influences. I work together with parents and caregivers to develop new strategies for them to use to build a healthier relationship with their youth and decrease challenging behaviors.

As a queer therapist, I also specialize in working with LGBTQIAA+ humans who are feeling anxious, dissatisfied, overwhelmed and “stuck” in their lives. We will work together to understand what makes you unique and how to change patterns that no longer serve you. I am here to tell you that you are 100% deserving of support and so much more.

I am an empathetic, compassionate, multiculturally competent, and trauma-informed in my practice. I adopt a Client-Centered approach while utilizing a wide variety of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Family Systems, Play Therapy, and tailor the treatment uniquely to each individual client to address their specific wants and needs. I believe it is important to equip clients with skills that will help them navigate existing and future challenges, and to meet clients where they are in their journey. I understand the importance of providing a safe place for clients to be themselves and love to bring fun and playfulness into my sessions. I meet my clients from a place of deep understanding and desire to help, which I believe is foundational in my practice. The therapeutic relationship is rooted in collaboration from which we work together to meet your goals and build on your strengths.
