Alora Gress, AMFT
Registered Associate Marriage & Family Therapist

Supervised by Kathy Winship, LCSW69759

I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT144008), supervised by Kathy Winship, LCSW (LCSW69759). As a therapist I believe my clients are the expert of their life and I am honored to be a part of their journey. Which is why I approach all issues through a lens of both cultural competency and curiosity. I believe in empowering clients that the current issues are not a reflection of them or a determining factor in their life story. They alone get to define who they are and the life they live. For this reason, my favorite modality is solutions focused. I love to see clients find their inner resilience and voice throughout therapy.

In my practice my aim is to show up as myself in hopes that clients feel the same sense of freedom to safely express who they are. Two principals I live by both professionally and personally are honesty and humility. As a therapist it is my job to show up in humility and honesty for each of my clients. In humility I recognize my clients as individuals. My hope is to create a safe place where clients can explore honesty with themselves, as I believe self-awareness is necessary for any lasting changes to take place. I have worked with various populations from children to adults, individuals, couples, and families.

Clinical Experience

My clinical experience ranges with all ages from issues such as postpartum depression, pregnancy loss, religious trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar, BPD, chronic pain, and relationship issues. With couples I like to pull from The Gottman Method, as these methods have an evidence-based approach to increase intimacy, respect, and affection. I am experienced working with LGBTQIA+, neurodivergent, and domestic violence communities. Therapeutic approaches I utilize include: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and Play Therapy.

In my free time you can find me doing anything outdoors. I love hiking, going to the beach, exploring national parks, and gardening. I enjoy photography, poetry, writing, and sometimes painting. Time with friends and family, relaxing, listening to music, and having amazing food would be my idea of a perfect day.
