Hi, my name is Karla Nicolas and I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC12399). I am supervised by Gina Cabral, LMFT (LMFT104556). I specialize in working with children, adolescents and young adults with Self Esteem, ADHD, Trauma, crisis and Stress Management, Attachment, Anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Depressive disorders.

My approach to counseling is person centered and focuses on positivity and a growth mindset.  I believe that every individual is different, which means that their needs and journeys are all different too.  I focus on practices such as CBT, TF-CBT, Solution Focused Therapy and DBT, along with holistic and mindfulness practices. I aim to create a therapeutic relationship with my clients that are focused on creating and meeting the client's goals, processing difficult emotions, creating coping and other skills that can help you create a positive and happier life.

Clinical Experience

My clinical background includes experiences working with children, teens and their families in private practice.  I have worked as a mental health provider in elementary, middle and high schools with children and adolescents with Anxiety, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum (ASD), Depression, social skills, Trauma and Stress Management.  I have worked in outpatient treatment including individual and group therapy in Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) for older children and adolescents. I have experience in crisis and suicide prevention and as behavior specialist utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis to children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other emotional needs.
