Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor

Supervised by Gina Cabral, LMFT104556

I am a Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC 13018), supervised by Gina Cabral, LMFT (LMFT104556). I graduated with a Master’s of Science in Multicultural Community Counseling and Social Justice Education - Community Based Block from San Diego State University. I have experience providing mental health services to a variety of populations including individual, family, and group therapy to adults, in different locations including in-home, community mental health, and school-based settings.

Clinical Experiences

I specialize in working with children and adults ages 5 and up. I have counseled at-risk youth, adolescents, and adults in addition to clients experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, ADHD, developmental disabilities, suicidal ideation/self-harm, grief, self-esteem, stress management, addiction, and adjustment issues. In my experience, I am able to support individuals in all areas of life, by meeting clients where they are and validating the complexities of their human experiences. My hope is to be able to help individuals understand their development and ways to cope with life in order to improve their quality of life. I work together with the individual and their caregivers (support system) to improve communication and help them find skills to improve their mental, emotional, and overall health.

I am a Salvadoran-American, bicultural, women, born and raised in East Los Angeles. I was raised in a predominantly immigrant Hispanic community, riddled with poverty, addiction, trauma, limited educational opportunities and mental health awareness. I have dedicated my educational and mental health journey to better understanding how to serve underrepresented and underserved communities. It is my hope to be able to work with anyone who is struggling to understand themselves and or their daily struggles, by embarking on a journey of understanding the self in a multicultural and intersectional world.

I utilize a person-centered, compassionate, multicultural, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach in my practice. I use a person-centered approach while also adopting a wide variety of evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-focused, Family Systems, Play Therapy, Gestalt, and the client’s specific needs and wants. I believe it is important to create a treatment plan alongside with my client in order to help them be able to tap into all emotions of being human - joy, sadness, anger, and grief. By being able to help clients better understand their human emotions, experiences, and behaviors, we can find ways to integrate their different identities through practical skills to implement in their daily lives. Overall, I want to meet my clients where they are and help them achieve goals that will serve their highest good.
